Before you learn what we do, I'd rather tell you why we exist.

​

I didn't start my career in finance. I started where many construction owners begin: working with my hands, solving problems, building relationships, and trying to figure things out one opportunity at a time.

​

I was fortunate enough to grow a business while I was still young.

​

Like many entrepreneurs, I learned through experience instead of textbooks. Some lessons were exciting.Others were expensive. Eventually I realized something that would shape the rest of my life.

​

Some of the most capable people I'd ever met weren't struggling because they lacked work ethic.

​

They were struggling because no one had ever shown them how to transform decades of hard work into lasting enterprise value.

 

These were men and women who built

• Neighborhoods

• Schools

• Hospitals

• Churches

• Roads

• Businesses

• Entire communities

​

Yet many of them reached the end of their careers without the freedom they deserved. 

 

Their companies depended on them. Their knowledge stayed in their heads. Their relationships stayed in their phones.

Their life's work became difficult to pass on. 

 

That never sat right with me because I don't believe construction businesses are just businesses.

I believe they're stories of sacrifice, risk, families betting everything on an idea, employees who spent twenty years helping build something bigger than themselves.

When those stories end unnecessarily...

We all lose: The owner, the employees, the community, and future generations

​

EXJ was created because I believe there is another way.

​

We believe businesses should leave people better than they found them.

We believe relationships create opportunities that spreadsheets alone never will.

We believe trust is worth protecting, even when it costs us.

We believe wealth should strengthen families, not separate them.

We believe great builders deserve great businesses.

We believe every business holds more potential than its owner can see alone.

Our responsibility is to help uncover it. 

 

Sometimes that's through better systems. Sometimes it's introducing the right partner. Sometimes it's helping an owner prepare for the next chapter of their life. Sometimes it's simply asking the question no one else thought to ask.

​

Whatever the situation, we measure our success the same way.

​

Did we leave them stronger than we found them?

That's our scoreboard.

​

Around here, it's about learning more than pretending to know everything and we celebrating when someone else wins.

​

We introduce people freely and teach what we've learned, remembering that the businesses we advise aren't numbers on paper but someone's life's work.

​

One day, I hope EXJ becomes one of the most respected names in construction, not because we're the biggest.

or because we've closed the most deals, but because people know exactly what happens when they trust us:

I hope they remember that EXJ became a place where overlooked potential is discovered, first-generation wealth was created, and businesses that could have disappeared became legacies instead.

If we can do that, every late night, every difficult conversation, every lesson learned, and every challenge we overcome will have been worth it.
